Thanks for responding. After asking this this question i noticed that the probutyrate states 300mg for their proprietary matrix complex , so i wonder how much butyric acid actually in each capsule.....
Dr James Kinross, gastroentologist and microbiome researcher said we should stay away from creatine powders which disrupt the microbiome in an article today about colon cancer. So I’m very confused!
My guess is he was talking about protein powders, not creatine. Clinically, I have seen protein powders (especially plant-based ones like pea protein) to be a cause of constipation and other IBS-type symptoms.
As per your previous recommendation Lucy, I have been on Creatine (5 g daily), Mitochondrial support supplement, SBI supplement and glutamine (5-10 mg/day) in addition to several other supplements like liposomal Glutathione, Curcumin and Coq10, etc. Unfortunately, no effect on my excessive overnight and morning BM's. I have Crohn's but am in remission - even though remission has had no effect on these symptoms, strange!
Hi Jeff – I’m sorry to hear optimizing cellular energy hasn’t offered relief for you. I’d encourage you to consider some of the other root causes I talk about at the end of this article: https://lucymailing.substack.com/p/time-for-a-new-chapter-focused-on. I’d also be happy to consult with you if you’d like some help figuring out what might be going on.
Unrelated, but may i ask if you found probutyrate vs tribyutrinx clinically , whether one is more beneficial over the others. Thanks
I've experienced both to be effective, though some people do respond better to one or another!

Great article, Lucy!
One correction:
Under Section 6, a small pilot trial at the University of Colorado is mentioned but appears to have been withdrawn.
Good catch, thanks! Bummer to see that they aren't recruiting anymore. I've edited accordingly.
